How It Works
Our homestead matching platform helps people connect with compatible landowners and homesteaders through clear profiles, thoughtful questions, and a simple trial process. You can browse public profiles before creating an account, so you can get a feel for the community, values, skills, locations, and types of help people are looking for.
1. Browse Public Profiles
Explore public homestead and member profiles at your own pace. Learn about each homestead’s lifestyle, projects, needs, expectations, and location, or see what skills, experience, and interests potential homesteaders bring. Public profiles are visible to everyone, but private contact details are protected.
2. Join the Community
When you find a community that feels like a good fit, create your account and build your profile. Share an honest overview of who you are, what you can offer, and what you hope to find. Complete profiles make it easier for landowners and homesteaders to make informed matches.
3. Complete the Questionnaire
Our matching questionnaire helps surface the details that matter most for a successful stay. You will answer questions about daily routines, helping styles, communication, living preferences, experience, boundaries, expectations, and goals. Your responses help you identify stronger matches and start conversations with more clarity.
4. Earn a Reference Badge
References build trust. After submitting references, eligible members can receive a Reference Badge on their profile. This badge lets others know that your references have been provided and reviewed, helping landowners and homesteaders feel more confident before making contact.
5. Arrange a Trial Stay
Once both parties are interested, you can connect and discuss a short trial stay. A trial gives everyone a chance to see whether the arrangement works in real life before committing to a longer stay. Use this time to learn about the help exchange, household rhythm, responsibilities, privacy, communication, and shared expectations.
When Contact Details Are Unlocked
Contact details are unlocked only after both members have completed the required profile information and questionnaire steps, and there is mutual interest in connecting. This approach protects privacy while ensuring that conversations begin between people who have taken the time to share meaningful information about themselves and their expectations.
Free Trial Stay Agreement
The trial stay is a free, mutually agreed-upon opportunity for a landowner and homesteader to evaluate compatibility. Before the stay begins, both parties should agree in writing on the dates, expected hours and types of help, accommodations, meals, house rules, transportation, personal boundaries, safety practices, and how either person can end the arrangement early. A handshake isn't enough when your land and livelihood are at stake — put it in writing, and make sure both sides hold a copy. A trial stay does not guarantee a longer-term placement. It is intended to create a respectful, low-pressure way for everyone to decide whether to continue together.
